Strategies for License Restoration
You depend on your license to drive yourself to work and take your kids to school. You need your driver’s license to maintain your freedom and support yourself; therefore, when your license is revoked or suspended, your life is completely disrupted. At The Law Office of Cynthia Christiani, LLC, we can assist people that have had their licenses suspended or revoked to restore their ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and regain control of their lives.
Reasons Drivers’ Licenses Are Suspended and Revoked
Driver’s licenses in Maryland can be revoked or suspended for many reasons, including a DUI and DWI. When yours has been revoked or suspended, you may be able to regain your license. Understanding the governing laws and the policies of the Maryland Vehicle Administration (MVA) is key to knowing the best course of action available to you. At The Law Office of Cynthia Christiani, LLC, we have years of experience assisting Maryland citizens in having their licenses restored. We can put our experience and knowledge to work for you.
Ignition Interlock Program
The Ignition Interlock Program (IIP) is available to some drivers facing license suspension or revocation. A voluntary program managed by the MVA, it is an attractive option to many drivers faced with the loss of their driving privileges.
The program works by installing a device in your car that measures your BAC level when you blow into it. Any BAC level greater than 0.025% will prevent your car from starting. Even after you have started your vehicle, retests are randomly administered to ensure alcohol has not been consumed. Data from the IIP is stored and reviewed for appropriate action.
Hardship Licenses
A hardship or restricted license is available to some drivers convicted of a DUI. This special license allows you to drive for necessary reasons, such as going back and forth to work, school, or medical appointments. This license must be applied for with the MVA, and a fee and certain proof of hardship must be presented. Proof can include employment validation or a copy of your school schedule.
Whether or not you will be granted a hardship license depends greatly on your circumstances and why your license has been suspended.
